Smarter technology, smarter Humans?
Hey! You know me! I love systems and processes and efficiency. I love having the technology to do stuff. I was an early Apple computer adopter all those decades ago (for music composition and production, after using the wonderful Atari) and have always stretched the capability of whatever software I’m using. (Another way of putting that is that I’m trying to do something with it that it simply wasn’t designed to do!!! But we’ll overlook that, just for now!)
I guess that’s how I came about creating Genius Material – the system and the software. I wanted to teach people how to learn and retain information the quickest, most painless way, so that they could confidently sit exams and be guaranteed to pass them… if that was their bag…
So last week’s Biscotti Gold technology event was right on the button!
And what about those Google Glasses, and did they give the user the ability to see through several layers, like Superman?
And, needless to say, at the moment the software has its limitations. But it’s early days and now the glasses actually exist, I bet more and more talented youngsters will begin to dream up innovative ideas and drive the technology forwards.
Likewise, the smart watch… It’s difficult to know right now, where it will fit in, given that we already have wrist bands that monitor our health and send the information to our ‘phones and other devices.
But it only takes the first bright spark to come up with a compelling use and suddenly the creative floodgates will open.
That’s my prediction, anyway. here are a few other predictions you may recall:
Bill Gates: “No one will need more than 637 kb of memory for a personal computer.” (To be fair, this may be a mis-quote. He might have said, “637kb of memory should be enough for anyone!” Ha ha! Still a little off!
Steve Ballmer: “There’s no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance.”
Another one from Bill Gates: “Two years from now, spam will be solved.”
Ken Olson: “There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home.”
