There’s a story, you may have heard, about the famous and gifted violin player, Itzhak Perlman.
Apparently, or so the story goes, after a charity performance in Vienna, members of the audience were permitted to speak to the great man and ask for his autograph. (And I should hope so too – tickets were $500 each!)
A woman said, “You were phenomenal tonight, Mr Perlman. Amazing!”
“Thank you” came the reply.
The women went on, “All my life I have loved the violin, and I have heard every great violinist, but I have never heard anyone play as brilliantly as you did tonight”.
Perlman graciously smiled back at her.
She added, “You know, I’d give my life to play like that.”
Perlman smiled again and said,
“I have!”
